Policy for AI in Science
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming every aspect of research and innovation: from literature reviews to laboratory automation; from life sciences to humanities. It helps deliver scientific breakthroughs in areas like health and climate, driving technological leadership and competitiveness. To harness this potential, the European Strategy for AI in Science, published on 8 October 2025, builds on Europe’s excellent tradition of collaborative science, high-quality data and world-class research and technology infrastructures.

About

This workshop aims to bridge policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss the complex policy challenges of integrating AI into scientific research. It will inform about the robust European policy framework that aims to accelerate AI’s transformative potential in research, the European Strategy for AI in Science and the Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE) as its flagship initiative. A scientific report on the Impact of AI on scientific research will be presented.

National research organisations will discuss how their strategies aim to foster AI-driven scientific innovation at member states level.

The role of the European Research Area (ERA) in harmonising AI policies for science will be highlighted, focusing on cross-border collaboration, funding mechanisms, and access to AI infrastructure and data.
